1972
Chevrolet Chevelle
Here's the latest on our Frame Off Restore progress on the 1972
Chevelle. Attached are pictures of our work on the bottom of the
body. We got the bottom finish cleaned by using high speed electric
wire brush grinders. Once cleaned, we used phosphoric acid to clean
and treat the bare metal. We then primed the bottom with a self
etching primer. Sealed all of the seams with a brushable sealer and
installed the plugs in all of the trunk and floor pans. You can see
the plugs if you look close at the pictures. After sealing we began
spraying the bottom with a 3M rubberized undercoating. I bought one
bottle from the paint shop, but it's going to take three. So what
you see with the black undercoating is how far we got. This is how
far we've gotten in the last week. Keep sending your progress
photos. Have enjoyed watching your work and issues you've had in
assembly.
