The car is in the final
stages of a frame off nut & bolt concourse restoration. "Wings Auto
Art" did the paint and body work including the interior restoration.
Nyle Wing is the owner. He is very well known as he was a partner
with Scott Tieman of supercar specialties in the same area. Nyle
does UNBELIEVABLE work and is just a regular guy. enjoyed many trips
to his shop and drank MANY beers with him. The extensive use of NOS
parts on this car really drove the price up. also restored numerous
original date coded components as well. As far as we know every date
coded part on this car is correct. My friend Steve Tischler is the
lead restoration mechanic on the project and most of the work has
taken place in his garage in Lansing Michigan. Steve is a engineer
with B.A.S.F paint division and is extremely anal about details.
what he doesn't know he researches and finds out. Without Steve this
project would not have been possible-And I would still have my $90K
!!!. Thanks Steve. Almost forgot Nyle has a cool web-site, check it
out.
www.wingsautoart.com.
The Car was built at the Lakewood
plant in Atlanta, Georgia. Vin # 136370A125825. Paint code 55 medium
gold. L-34 V8 396/350 and built 1-20-70. We found a near Perfect
build sheet in the drivers door panel and a partial under the back
seat. Car has Black bucket seats, full gauges, duct hood, am-fm-8
track. console, rear window defog, posi, AC, vinyl top, wheel open
moldings, tinted glass, automatic, and more.
I plan on driving the car VERY
VERY selectively on sunny dry days as I dont want to mess up the
under carriage. Nyle suggested that this car go straight to Barret-Jackson,
but I really want to enjoy it and show it off. with any luck we
should be ready for the Detroit "Autorama in Feb 07. This is a big
local show here in Detroit that draws some really fine cars. to win
a award here would really put some added value on the car." Wings
Auto Art" always has a few cars in the show every year and Nyle
comes down to be with the cars and there owners.
That's it for now, I should be
posting some more pics shortly as we get more done. The car should
be home here in White Lake, Mi by 3-01-07 and under cover in my
garage waiting for the spring sunshine. Norman Leist
