Description
|
| This is a 1961 Chevrolet Corvair Lakewood Station wagon that was converted by to a "El Cormino" style pick up. The person I bought it in from in Southern California claimed to have bought it an local estate auction several years ago. After a recent tune-up, this stock 6 cylinder car runs well and I've driven about a fifteen hundred miles the last six months. Will run a highway speeds no problem, although I prefer a slower pace. I put four new 13 inch blackwall radial tires on at that time earlier this summer too. This car is a dependable driver, not a show car. The am- fm cassette looks to be from the 1980's and works, the lights functions, the brakes work. Surprisingly well ventilated and comfortable. Air-cooled, twin carb - aluminium flat six cylinder engine is stock except for dual exhaust. It has some faults, like dried up 1/4 window rubber gaskets and a speedo cable that needs to be replaced. There are a few small paint blisters and chips. Chrome is decent. True mileage is unknown, but I'd guess the odometer has rolled over.
Very unique custom pick up truck design thats fun to drive. This Chevy Corvair is simple to maintain and economical to run. Would make a great little holiday gift! Can haul small ATV's , motorcycles, a Go Kart or any number of things you need hauled. Corvairs are capable of towing as well, although this one has not been used for that.
